RAILWAY

Services and Amenities in Railway Budget 2016-17 

1. The quality and hygiene levels of food served in trains should be improved 
2. Train toilet accessories should be effective maintained 
3. The number of dustbins should be increased and their management should be effective 
4. Insect and pest free trains should be ensured 
5. The number of phone charging points should be increased 
6. Clean drinking water should be provided on stations 
7. More elevators and escalators should be installed for families/elderly/special needs travellers 
8. Functional toilets should be a priority 
9. Hassle free Coolie/Porter services should be ensured 
10. Customized train departure/arrival/cancellation notifications via SMS should be started 
11. Effectiveness of phone helplines and their information quality must be refined 
12. Effective display of train arrival/departure and coach numbers on platforms 
13. All assistance/helpline numbers must be displayed in coaches and on platforms 
14. Emergency medical assistance should be made available on stations 
15. Guard, TTE and Attendants must be trained and equipped with First Aid Kit 
16. Cleaner and fresh bed rolls for AC coaches and available for purchase bedrolls for sleeper/general coach should be made available. 
17. More chairs should be installed on the platforms for people to sit 
18. A separate counter should be opened at stations for ticket cancellations 
19. Railways should start a dedicated complaint redressal department 
20. The freight system should be modernized and online parcel bookings should be started 
21. Free wifi internet should be made available on stations 
22. Wheelchairs should be made available on stations to assist the handicap 
23. Ramps should be constructed to make platforms disable friendly 
24. Online booking of retiring rooms should be made easy 
25. Package and pilgrimage tours division should be strengthened 
26. Rail passes should be introduced for tourists.

Two very important matters have been missed totally. It is the following: 
1 - In A/c - 3 Tier, A/c - 2 Tier and even in A/c 1st Class the Bedlinen, Pillow Covers and Blankets that are provided to passengers are NEVER DRY CLEANED. IT IS VERY VERY DOUBTFUL IF THEY ARE WASHED AFTER SINGLE USE AND EVEN IF THEY ARE WASHED, THE WASHING CONTRACTORS ARE THE FAVOURED CLASS - RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF MINISTERS AND SENIOR GOVT. OFFICERS - WHO JUST GET THEM WASHED WITH VILLAGE POND WATER. IN THE INTEREST OF NATIONAL HEALTH - PARTICULARLY SO BECAUSE THE SUBJECT OF CLEANLINESS IS VERY CLOSE TO HEART OF THE PM - ALL BED LINEN, PILLOW COVERS AND BLANKETS MUST NECESSARILY BE GOT DRY CLEANED AFTER EACH SINGLE USE - IN ORDER TO PREVENT SPRED OF DISEASES. 
2- Indian Railway must find out ways and means to make sure that for Male passengers above age 60 and Female Passengers above age 50 only Lower Birth should be allotted. 
The problem is REALLY VERY SERIOUS IN CASE OF A/C 1st CLASS SINCE BERTH/SEAT NUMBER GETS TO BE KNOWN ONLY WHEN RESERVATION CHART HAS BEEN PREPARED AND INDIA BEING INDIA ALL THE SOURCE-FUL PERSONS SUCH AS MLAs, MPs, Senior and Retired Railway Employees use their pull to get Lower Berth allotted to them and the poor COMMAN MAN (AAM ADMI) is necessarily allotted an Upper Berth irrespective of whether he or she is 75 years, 80 years or even 90 years in age. It would be 9th Wonder if the present BJP Government is able to make the required change. All previous Governments had in any case no time to look into such matters of comfort to common man and all they had been concerned with was welfare of their VVVVIPs. Let is hope that our own BJP Govt. proves to be better.

1.New railway sleeper coaches like mahanama express should be introduced. 
2.cctv should be installed in all coaches near door. 
3.Railway and security staff should be available in train while in journey and emergency/ panic button / infoccom service should be introduced for in train emergency and other related services. 
4.cleanliness should be improved within train while in journey as cleaners do not provide forms to each ticket holder and tear form if rated poor or just start arguing. 
5.external services for food should be introduced where railway kitchens can be installed between major stations so hot and fresh food with best quality can be served . 
6.services should be allowed to bought while in journey like food. 
7.pantry system should be removed from all trains and instead food should be served from railway kitchen as it will be more hygienic,provide more buying options to passengers,serve hot and fresh food and reduce cost for railways as well.also the removed pantry coach can be replaced with other coach as necessary. 
8.Railway navigation and signalling should be improved. 
9.no train should be stopped for letting other train to pass if its their time .Many times many trains are stopped for approximately half hour or more for just letting trains like rajdhani and others to pass whereas this leads to delay in train scheduled should train be stopped if its on time for other train to pass? 
10.Charging ports should be provided on all the seats in sleeper and above classes.but this ports should have proper buttons and not patch work.this charging points are very slow. 
11.Charging ports near coach doors should be removed as it creates hassle to charge there and the place is congested by people standing there.also chances of theft increase there. 
12.Railway coaches should be designed in such a way that more space can be assigned internally and increase passenger safety incase of accidents. 
13.Railway toilets should have proper washers / handheld pressure pump. Kindly dont make us use of Water bottles for required purposes :) . 
14.coolie services should have pre booking and rate charts should be made as per weight. 
12.Maximum number of tickets that can be booked online in a month should be increased.Many people travel multiple times in a month and also with families.if there are more people for a single journey for example 7 then atleast 2 tickets will be need to accommodate them for one way journey atleast.
All are very valid points. Railway authorities should implement them forthwith. 
Further, for Senior Citizens special and or dedicated porter arrangements should be made available at all big stations.

Unauthorised entry into the platform by anti-socials and beggars should be prevented by entry through electronic smart card system and no one should be allowed to sleep on the platforms. Tea & gudka vendors, Hijadas etc should be stopped from entering into the reserved compartments. 

The Tatkal system should be abolished as it gives ground for mushrooming growth of touts. The ticketing system should be first come first served basis. When in general quota there is no seat available, then how come Tatkal quota gets seats.. that means it is a source of income earning. This should be abolished. 

The system of selecting seats while booking online should be introduced. Like in Bus or Airtravel, we can select the preferred seats but in railway it is at Railways Mercy. This needs change. 

cleanliness in Platforms, station areas as well as inside and outside of the Train coaches should be the priority. 

It should be made strict that In reserved compartments short distance travellers should not be allowed to sit and travel. TTEs al;ways have a soft corner for such travellers and allow them to board on the reserved compartments, thereby making the travel a nightmare for those who reserve the tickets for a pleasant journey. These short distance travellers, always speak a lot on politics and other related issues and till they deboard, the reserved passenger has to suffer in silence. In fact, Indian Railway needs a total re-vamping. It should start from zero ....


Priority Food served in train should be improved. The cleanness in train is not satisfactory. Major stations the sweepers must attend the coach and clean the toilet and other area. At present the online booking is point to point it should be available for onward booking too. All luggage must be checked in the main gate as well to watch while loading in trains. The lower birth must be exclusively for senior citizen and other disabled person. Rats and other insects like cockroaches are in the compartment very often and spoil the luggage of passengers. Restriction for its entry must be ensured. porters/coolies are charging very high and strict action against them to be done. None will deny a reasonable charge. The taxi available inside the railway premises are looting the passengers. Most of the passengers are first comer and to go the unknown locality.They should be trained and instruct them not to loot the public for nothing. Most of the city autorikshaw drivers are not operating the meter and they charge what ever they wish. The meter must be strictly implemented and if any driver is not ready to take the passenger on meter his permit may be cancelled permanently. The traffic police and other authorities must be more cautious and attend the passengers complaint and initiate action there on with out any mercy on defaulters
